What We Believe

We Believe God created all things, including humanity. Because of the presence of destruction, sickness, and evil, humanity experiences suffering and separation from God. We believe God was not satisfied with the agonized state of people, so God came to restore God’s relationship with people and bring peace. Jesus was not just a person, but was fully God and fully human, and was called “God with us.” Jesus came to be with his people and to forgive humanity through his sacrificial life and death. We believe Jesus did not just die, but because he was God, he rose from the dead. Jesus’ death offers us complete forgiveness, and his resurrection offers us freedom, peace, and life both now and into eternity. We believe that the work of Jesus has and will continue to bring renewal and life to a broken world.

We believe the Story of Jesus, the Gospel, is good news for everyone.

Whether you are a follower of Jesus or not, we know each of us has our particular beliefs and practices around faith, sexuality, and gender. There is a time and place for us to gather with people who share these in common with us, but Kaleidoscope communities are by nature a place of diversity and discovery.

What matters most to us at Kaleidoscope is the safety and “room” for you to process through what you believe. As a community, we offer space for people from all different levels and types of religious and spiritual engagement who are interested in Jesus and the hope he brings. We have the utmost respect for how people believe or practice their faith differently.

At Kaleidoscope, each person comes to the table with particular beliefs and lives. No matter what you believe, you are welcome at our table.

We Stand Against Conversion Therapy

Conversion therapy is any attempt to change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity. We have not, do not, nor will we ever support or practice conversion therapy or any other type of sexual orientation change effort (SOCE). We respect adults’ decisions to pursue whatever support they believe is helpful. We are aware that conversion therapy and similar practices by conservative ministries in the past have produced deep harm for LGBTQ youth and adults. We take particular care to protect young people from any form of manipulation.
