June is Pride month.

Historically, Pride arose as a march of people longing for dignity amidst dehumanization; life in the face of death; human connection in the face of isolation and invisibility.

Today, Pride continues as a time of dignity, visibility, and celebration of life. It reminds LGBTQ+ people that, though hardships abound, they are valued and loved.

How can Christians interact well?

Those who identify as Christian may wonder, “To what extent is it honoring or authentic for me to participate?” “How can I show meaningful care for the LGBTQ+ people in my life?”

These hesitations could prevent us from seizing this month as the amazing opportunity it is to tangibly love our LGBTQ+ neighbors.

If we aren’t present, we send the opposite message: one of apathy.

In Jesus, we find someone who didn’t allow fears and concerns to prevent Him from showing up. He lived and moved among diverse people, especially those held at arm’s length by many.

Jesus went to where the people are. so will we.

Kaleidoscope is an LGBTQ-led grassroots organization training dozens of volunteers – humble allies, ministers, family members, and fellow LGBTQ+ people – to offer spiritual resources at Pride for queer people interested in exploring or reconnecting with faith in Jesus.

Why NYC Pride?

It’s the largest pride event
in the world

with as many as 5 million of our neighbors from various “tribes, tongues, and nations” in attendance.

Kaleidoscope will be attending and hosting a variety of Pride events to proclaim the Gospel: that through Christ we can turn, as our whole selves, toward our Creator – and belong in God’s “Chosen Family” marked by Jesus’ justice and mercy. We will be:

  • Giving away hugs, water bottles, and popcorn

  • Handing out conversation-starting magazines about God seeing and knowing our experience

  • Inviting folks to connect with our exploratory Bible study made just for LGBTQ+ people

Our witness of Christ is stronger when we unite.

Together, we Can raise $15,000 by June 30 to cover all costs for over a dozen June outreach events.

Where others may otherwise spend money on rainbow merch that funds large corporate organizations, your support will directly help LGBTQ+ neighbors tangibly experience God’s heart for them on a local level – and for many months to come.
